The short version
- modelpick does not set cookies and does not store anything in your browser (Cloudflare, which delivers the site, may set a security cookie; see below).
- We count page views with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that runs on our own server (details below). There are no ads and no third-party scripts; everything is served from modelpick.dev itself.
- The token counter, cost calculator and the HTML and PDF converters run in your browser. Nothing you paste or open is uploaded.
- URL to Markdown sends the address you enter to our server, which fetches the page once and passes it back to your browser. The page is not stored. Our log of the fetch keeps only the domain, not the full address (details below).
Analytics
We use Umami, running on our own server, to see which pages are read and where visitors come from. For each page view it records the page address (without anything after the "?"), the page title, the referring page, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language, and your country, region and city. Umami does not use cookies and does not store your IP address: the address is used only to look up your location and to tell visits apart. If your browser sends Do Not Track, you are not counted at all. The data is not shared with anyone.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server logs each request: your IP address, the time, the page requested, your browser's user agent and the referring page. We use these logs only to keep the site running and to stop abuse, and they are deleted after at most 15 days.
For URL to Markdown, the request to our fetch service appears in that server log like any other request (with your IP address, but without the address you entered, which is sent in the body of the request). The fetch service keeps its own log of each fetch: the time, the domain, the result, the page size and how long it took. That log does not include your IP address or the full address, and it is deleted after at most 31 days.
To enforce the URL to Markdown limits (10 fetches a minute and 200 a day per visitor), the fetch service counts requests per IP address in memory. The counts are never written to disk and are cleared every day.
Cloudflare
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which handles every request to protect and speed up the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie, and shows us aggregate traffic statistics (such as request counts by country) without any script on the page. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If we add ads, we will update this page before they go live and describe what they collect.
